Meet the Team: Gertrude Ikea

Meet Gertrude Ikea, Lucid’s Director of Branch Management!

A key member of Lucid's success, Gertrude "Gertie" Ikea since 2018 has helped to provide security, moral support, pivotal growth, and humor (we all know she has the best dad jokes, it's that dry Swedish sense of humor.) She's weathered many a storm (literal storms, she spends a lot of time outside), but never lost sight of her goals. Her drive and dedication are unmatched as Gertie is the only Lucid employee that works 24/7, 365.

While she never stops working, she does have a few hobbies that include not being attacked by her cat roommates, drinking fresh spring water, and yearning for the days when she can smell fresh Swedish meatballs again. There is truly no one else on the Lucid team quite like Gertie (she's our only plant, the others haven't made it) and for that we are forever grateful.

Gertrude’s Lucid Story:

· You’ve been Lucid’s Director of Branch Management for about 6.5 years. What are you most proud of since joining Lucid?

First of all, surviving. Six and a half years is a long time for any plant, let alone a plant that lived off of leftover coffee and little sunlight for the first two years of her life.

Secondly, growth is a pivotal part of my role and Lucid has grown so much in the past 6.5 years. We’ve really grown in every sense of the word, and it’s been so exciting and rewarding to be along for the ride. What’s even more exciting is that I think we are entering our biggest period of growth and change right now. The sky is the limit for Lucid (and for me if I’m given a big enough pot and more water) and I can’t wait to see where the next several years takes us.

· What three words would you use to describe the team at Lucid?

  • Loyal (We won’t mention that I was originally abandoned at the start of Covid.)

  • Driven

  • Entertaining (Have you ever been to one of their parties? It’s a dang good time. I mean, I don’t know personally as I have never been invited, but I have heard things.)

· Do you have any phobias or strange fears?

Yes, returning to the office. That was a dark time for me. I’m in a much better place at my Castleton outpost. Marcy is by far my favorite co-worker.

· You are originally from Fishers, IN, but have Swedish heritage. Do you notice any similarities between Indiana and Sweden?

Cold. It’s cold in both places. I think that’s it, unless Indiana has any fjords that I am not aware of.
